"I loved my Braves Session classes. I got the opportunity to study completely new subjects in an in-depth way that isn't possible in the regular classroom. The community members who came in as guest speakers really knew what they were talking about and gave me a perspective that I never would have gained otherwise. And it was a great break in the middle of the year."

|Braves Session: Cooperation as a Community
Reedsport Community Charter School's innovative new Braves Session between first and second semesters allows students to immerse themselves in one or two new electives for two and a half weeks. All regular classes stop during this period of time and every student chooses from a wide range of completely new classes taught by regular highly qualified staff members and members of the community who have been certified as "registered teachers" and offer an elective in their area of specialty.
Students who are not passing their regular classes or their state tests required for graduation receive intensive tutoring in graduation literacy or math credit recovery classes during the Braves Session. During the inaugural 2011 Braves Session, 31 students retrieved necessary math or English credits, and 60% of the students who had not previously passed their standardized tests were successful in passing at least one state exam required for them to graduate.
